Ryan attained a DPhil in Virology from Oxford University before founding OXGENE in 2011. The company was initially underpinned by proprietary SnapFast™ plasmid technology, but by the time of its cash-exit in 2021, OXGENE was a recognised provider of technologies and services to accelerate the discovery and development of cell and gene therapies. Ryan is now co-founder and CEO of Lab Thread, a laboratory software company that aims to simplify digital lab management, and connect laboratory workflows with a “digital thread” that runs through molecular designs, in-lab processes, data recording and analysis, sample tracking and project management.
