Joanna Pezzini co-founded PAK BioSolutions, Inc. in 2019 along with Kevin Hill-Byrne. Prior to her work at PAK BioSolutions, Inc., Ms. Pezzini led the development of a continuous purification laboratory at Astra Zeneca with highly cited publications and industry presentations on her work. Through these efforts, she introduced novel flow-through virus inactivation and single-pass diafiltration methods. Her solid, single-use flow kit for the PAK system was awarded a U.S. patent in 2021. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of NIH awarded her a grant in 2022 for her research and development of a small-scale PAK system. Ms. Pezzini has additional engineering experience from GMP and development organizations at several large pharmaceutical companies, including Lonza Biologics and Biogen Idec. She has a B.S. in mechanical engineering and an M.S. in bioengineering from Tufts University.
